More additions. More remodels.

It’s happening. With the scarcity of affordable in-town building sites (did I actually use the word affordable?), we are seeing an uptick in remodels and additions.

Perhaps you love your property, you love your neighbors, you love your location, but the home you fell in love with years ago is no longer a fit. Or you love your home but it’s just not big enough. What a marvelous opportunity to transform a dated environment into your perfect new space with Zinn Design Build.

We recently completed an addition for clients who had previously purchased a Zinn Design Build spec home. They wanted a second family room, and they wanted it to be reminiscent of their former life in Great Britain. For this special space we sourced old wooden beams, creating a warm and cozy setting with an antique feel.

Our clients selected a beautiful wood stove (Are wood stoves coming back? This is our second wood stove client in recent months.) Locally crafted custom cabinets met our clients’ need for functional elegant storage.

And from one of our San Francisco tile and stone vendors, I sourced a delicate yet sturdy dark herringbone tile for the wood stove alcove, also capped by another antique beam.

A former small office/guest bedroom became an adjacent and functional butler pantry to facilitate entertaining.

Embellishing their outdoor area, our clients added an outdoor kitchen, extended their bluestone patio, added a stone retaining wall, and completed their open-air retreat with a large detached screen porch.
We encourage detached screen porches for clients whose larger properties welcome an expansive approach to outdoor living.
