Everywhere I go, my eyes are looking for and open to new inspiration. My cell phone is full of ideas captured while wandering metropolitan areas, such as New York, Paris, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Gothenburg, San Francisco, as well as obscure little villages such as Saint Martin de Ré off the Atlantic Coast of France. This church steeple on Île de Ré captured my attention.

I am not sure where this steeple image will lead me, but it will surely be transformed into a part of someone’s luxury Zinn Design Build home!

The joyful feeling of this Île de Ré children’s merry-go-round, harkening to long-ago times, may well appear in a future special custom home – perhaps in a whimsical bonus room or secondary bathroom.

The white floors in our modern elegant Carrboro Model home are cousins to the painted white floors I see during my visits to Sweden, where I spend time with a beloved niece and her family.

Painted wood floors are not for most of our clients. Soon, however, they will be a striking feature in a beautiful luxury kitchen remodel currently underway, and I can’t wait to show them to you!

For many years, I have spent part of my time in Marin County, a picturesque suburb north of San Francisco, and I continue to work for ZDB while there. Bay Area homes have an appreciation for tile and stone not common to the Triangle. Zinn Design Build homes are known for their distinctive and high-end finishes, including tile and stone. I source many of these items in San Francisco. One of my favorite showrooms is that of Artistic Tile, and I have worked closely for over two decades with the showroom manager, Pam Katz, who understands the unique looks ZDB brings to Chapel Hill.

For our luxury custom projects, Zinn Design Build uses a cadre of highly skilled sub-contractors, supervised by our devoted project manager Jason O’Quinn, to execute our work. Our tile details wouldn’t be as beautiful without the refined, skillful execution of our long-time tile artisan partner, Rafa.

With each custom project, my attunement to our clients’ taste and desires drives my quest for the perfect space and perfect details that will make their home feel uniquely theirs. Each of my clients hears me say: I channel you through me.
